Our Process
We use a variety of exercises and education outside of the conventional therapy model to empower your identity so you can operate from a place of self-love, courage, and understanding.
Identity Navigation
is the process of recognizing the many voices that everyone has in their heads are actually an inner dialogue with voices that you have absorbed or have made an impression on you in some form or another. These voices are not your own! Naming yourself based on your cultural identity, class, age, ability etc. is an embodied practice meant to uncover your true identity, reclaim your inner dialogue and embody your own named identity.
We believe identity drives our actions collectively and individually.

Liberation Psychology
“an approach to psychology that aims to actively understand the psychology of oppressed and impoverished communities by conceptually and practically addressing the oppressive sociopolitical structure in which they exist."
“To do liberation psychology, requires first, to liberate psychology.” - Ignacio Martín-Baró
Simply recognizing the distinctiveness of the black (or any marginalized individual’s) experience is inadequate if the psychological theorization used does not come from the communities to which they are applied.
Trippy Therapist:
the archetype
To be clear, this is a private practice, and we understand we might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
The Trippy Therapist is an archetype that:
-
is not afraid to tell the truth or do things differently.
-
is not afraid of conflict.
-
doesn't simply use social justice as a marketing tool, but lives it and has the capacity to unpack and process any perspective.
-
recognizes that, regardless of religious affiliation, there is an undeniable spiritual element to the process of healing and taking responsibility for your “self”.
-
recognizes that therapy should not be boring, but an exciting process.
-
believes in freedom for all people
-
understands how real life is lived and the vices that we use to cope
